About the Author
Adam Gamble, is a writer, a photographer, and a publisher. He is the author of many books in the Good Night Books series, In the Footsteps of Thoreau, and A Public Betrayed. He lives in Sandwich, MA. Illustrator Cooper Kelly grew up in Connecticut and New York City and currently lives in Paris, France. He works in a variety of styles and has illustrated for a wide range of clients in adult and children’s publishing. My son and I just love the Good Night books, but this one was a true disappointment. The art is unpleasant--it's more like full color Dahl sketches, which is the wrong style for a toddler. My son hates looking at it and says, "bye-bye, no-no" when I pick it up. It's a shame, because he was so excited when it arrived.Also, this book is less inclusive than the other Good Night books. This one is so strongly gendered it's bizarre: only men are doing anything in this book--page by page: a man runs, a lady sits, a man snorkels, a man examines a crab, a man shows his son a crab, men boat, men fish, a man is a lifeguard, a man and a woman eat sandwiches, a man surfs, men surf cast, a man plays guitar, a man and a woman carry children off the beach. Halfway through the book I noticed this trend and it's really disturbing. I'll be putting this one in the donation bin.
My 2 1/2 year old grand daughter requested we read her this book every nap time and every bedtime during the 2 weeks she stayed with me at our beach home. It was decidedly her favorite book of all the ones I had for her. The story was so similar to how we spent our days she really related to it.I think it strengthened memory and language skills because we could talk together about our day at the beach as we went through the pages. It's simple, not too wordy and has a very soothing and calming effect as the day at the beach comes to a close and darkness falls in the beautiful illustrations. I would recommend it for any toddler, but it's especially enjoyable if you happen to be at the shore with a little one,
My 2.5 yr old loves this book, and many others from the "Goodnight" series! Fun pictures, simple story telling, great for calming down at bedtime!
The book came a little damaged. The pictures in the book are like older cartoon images. Overall such a cute book!
Got Good night South Carolina when I ordered Good night beach..Don't even want it but not going through the hassle of sending it back!Need to check item before shipping.Its a cute book but I don't even know anyone in South Carolina so useless for this gramma to read to her granddaughter.
My 2 year old granddaughter loved the book and had me read it to her many times. Then her family took her to the beach.
Excellent children's book based on Good Night, Nurse!, the 1918 movie with Fatty Arbuckle and Buster Keaton.
Gift for toddler granddaughter who loves in Florida and loves the beach. Her mother was very pleased and said her daughter loves the book.
