Love love love this coloring book!! I bought it for my 9 year old son. He loves history and anything about soilders and wars. He loves learn facts about history. He has hardly put this down since we got it.There are 48 pages in the book. The images are printed on both sides. There are some double page images. All different kinds of images depicting the civil war period. Each picture contains a paragraph about what is going on in the picture. The paper is nice and thicker then printer paper however not thick enough to use markers. The best coloring tool I have found would be color pencils.I want to collect all of the history coloring books for my kids. My 6 year old is also wanting some. I am really happy with Dover coloring books and want them all.
I got this for my 7 year old, 2nd grade son for his birthday. He is really into the Civil War right now and he LOVED it. He immediately spent 3 straight hours coloring in it and has been enjoying it every day since. I also really liked the paragraph on each page explaining the picture like a mini history lesson.
You can color the ANV at Malvern Hill or Lincoln consulting Stanton. This is a top notch coloring book. And I have to say, I may be a 28 year old man but there is something therapeutic about coloring Civil War battle scenes. And I have no motor skills.
I simply fell in love with this coloring book. I have studied a good deal about the Civil War. This book contains many pictures depicting historical events of the Civil War. I prefer to use colored pencils to attain shading. This book offers many opportunities to enhance coloring skills.
Nice mini info provided for each picture. Wish the pictures were a little larger for coloring, some details are way to tiny for a young elementary student to master. All the same I am still going to be purchasing several other subject coloring books for my children.
The Dover series of History Coloring books is NOT designed for little kids. These exquisitely intricate pictures are accompanied by detailed historical information about specific areas of interest. They are a wonderful supplement to any history curriculum, especially for children who are visual learners. Look for other volumes in the same series!
The felt pens go through pages and ruin the picture on the other side you can only use color pencils or gel pens. I'm disappointed because that's why I like the Dover coloring books but this book failed me
