I even have an MBA. In fact, an alternate title of this book could have been "What they don't teach you in MBA school that you need to know about starting your own business."This well-written book is a nice mix of straightforward, actionable, real world concepts and checklists along with insightful stories from real businesses. Kudos for Carol for including stories of failures. Most books have fluffy, feel-good stories. In this book, you get to learn from other's mistakes.The real "gold" in this book is how to do things on a small or no budget. You don't have to spend lots of money to get your business going. It's not a cheerleading, "rah rah" kind of book that in the end has no value. This book tells you how to get things done without spending a bundle of money.Skip buying lunch & coffees for one day & buy this book with the money you saved. It's not about recycling paper clips and using the backs of discarded reports as scrap paper.It's more of a checklist of all the alternatives for such functions as market research, e-commerce, facilities, labor and financing because it is rather comprehensive, but it also expands upon each possibility to help you evaluate it in terms of your business.The book is a great resource, explaining such important topics as how (or if) to conduct a SurveyMonkey survey, how to calculate key financial figures, and the benefits and shortcomings of various corporate legal structures. The book also includes case studies illustrating success stories.As a self-employed person, I heartily recommend the volume.

As I continued on, not only did I sense in the detail of her advice Carol Tice's immense experience in building businesses, but her writing style, albeit on a technical and business topic is conversational and friendly. Every page is full of thorough explanations of the hows and how-to's of building a business the *smart* way.Let's face it; most of us do not have tons of money to start a business. This book helps us confront that reality: What to watch out for; what not to do; and how not to do it. Additionally, the author lists and explains how to go about getting things done - economically and wisely - step by step.The author gives many real scenario examples so I was able to see myself in the various points she brought out. As I am now at the stage in my life when I might just start a business in the near future, I found this book eye-opening and honest. Having recently been diagnosed with sensitivities to dairy, wheat, eggs, and several types of nuts, I wanted to find a cookbook where I wouldn't have to modify all of the recipes to meet my needs. I also try to eat a very clean diet, so I don't want to use a bunch of processed ingredients to recreate the foods I am omitting. Autoimmune Paleo is too strict for my needs, but this is a good middle ground. The book itself is gorgeous, with photographs for many of the recipes. I ordered the paperback after reading some negative reviews about the hardcover version.I am so, so impressed with this cookbook! I can tell it was written by a trained chef. The instructions are clear, the recipes I've tried have all come out perfectly on the first try, and she uses simple, real food ingredients. Dishes are flavorful, and cook times are accurate. The only processed ingredients I've come across are things like soy-free vegan butter (I tolerate ghee, so I use that instead, but there's a wide range of ingredients that fit these parameters) and soy-free chocolate chips. She uses some creative ingredients to replace eggs: sweet potato puree, potato flakes, chia seeds, garbanzo bean liquid. We don't normally eat garbanzo beans, so I'm going to try an egg replacer in those recipes and see how they come out. But I appreciate that she doesn't call out specific brands or products in the recipes, though she does tell you her favorites in the beginning of the book. All of the ingredients in this cookbook are things that can be found easily at a normal grocery store or ordered online (beet sugar, for example). And if you don't have sensitivities to all of the foods omitted in this book, you could easily replace them with something different (dairy milk for coconut milk, wheat pasta for gluten-free pasta, cane sugar for beet sugar, etc.).I've had this book for a week and have already made about eight recipes out of it. They have all been huge hits with my family. If you're used to cooking from scratch, you won't be surprised by long ingredient lists or prep/cook times.Just a note about what this cookbook is NOT. It's not AIP. It's not low histamine. It's not keto or Paleo or low carb. It's exactly what it says it is on the cover. If you are looking for recipes that accommodate the allergies/sensitivities listed on the cover, then this is a fantastic cookbook. If you're looking for something that accommodates a completely different diet, then you should probably look for a cookbook specific to that diet. The author of this cookbook has done a phenomenal job of bringing variety back to the table for those of us with food sensitivities.

I can't believe this book is real. My family has quite a few allergies spread out amongst myself and my children and this book has been a godsend. It is almost impossible to find resources that cover all of our allergies, and this one does. I love Heathers blog, but this book seems to take it a step further, so that I know my family can eat every single thing in it. I am very appreciative since staying on our diet is very difficult but very necessary. I have one child who is deathly allergic to nuts and eggs and another with a lot of sensitivities. My health and especially my arthritis is so much better since I eat without gluten, dairy and eggs- plus I am going to try cutting out soy and cane sugar and see if that helps further.We have already made the spaghetti and meatballs which my family really loved and then I have made several salads for myself that were all delicious. My first big excitement came when I made the banana bread. It was so moist and good- I don't even think I would have ever known that it was gluten free. I can't wait to cook more from this book.Thank you for creating this book and caring about my family.

It's just such a convenient book to have because so many people have special requests now! I can just plan an event from start to finish with these dishes and not have to worry about things tasting like cardboard, or deal with labels, or worry about cross-contamination for those who are super-allergic. The recipes I've tried so far have all been really tasty. Also colorful, which is great for serving to company.And for those who do have allergies -- wow, what hope. The turnaround in her and her kids' health is an amazing story. I got rid of most of my cookbooks because I don't usually follow recipes, but this one is among the four or five I'm hanging on to. Great pictures too --it's so nice when just flipping through photos puts you in the mood to cook.

My favorite cookbook! I was diagnosed with a gluten allergy a few years ago and wasn't sure how to adjust more complex recipes. What I love about Heather's book because I have other gluten free cookbooks, it's the right amount of work but incredible flavor. The fact that she's a chef comes through. I would highly recommend this book whether you have allergies or not.

I love this book. There are so many awesome recipes! I will say that sometimes it takes me a bit longer to prepare the meals than the time listed, but my family has loved every single thing I've made from this book and there are a couple of family members that are harder to please. The Carrot Pesto Pasta is my husband's favorite and he requests it regularly. The Prosciutto-Wrapped Chicken is so easy and absolutely delicious. We don't eat a lot of sugar, so I haven't made any of the desserts yet, but I'm SUPER pleased with this purchase.

This is a gift for everyone. Cooking for friends or family with allergies or just exploring some really tasty ideas. I have recommended this book to so many friends and patients. Very compact but authoritative.Problem with C string debugging solved after reading this book.I didn't know that in C, character is also a 8-bit integer.

I'm not new to programming; in fact I've been doing it professionally for the past decade. Although I've played around in quite a few different languages, most of my work over the last 6 years has been in .NET (C# mainly). I have always had an interest in C because I love its simplicity. Also, it's a language which brings one closer to the machine, stripping away many of the abstractions that higher level languages provide. Higher level languages (such as Java, C#, Python, etc.) are massive and powerful with HUGE frameworks, but I'm attracted to simple things.This book is a feisty little devil! I had heard of this book before diving in (it is a classic), but its size and table of contents lead me to believe I would breeze right through it. Wrong! Picking up the syntax wasn't too difficult and I have a fairly good handle on more advanced concepts like pointers already, but this book is absolutely packed with exercises and many of them are quite challenging!Here's one:"Write a program to check a C program for syntax errors like unbalanced parenthesis, brackets and braces. Don't forget about quotes, both single and double, escape sequences, and comments."This is a chapter 1 exercise! Chapter 1 is just a tutorial introduction chapter and this is one 1 of 24 exercises in this chapter! No wonder it takes people years to work through this tiny book. I'm only about halfway through as I write this review.This book is the perfect blend of reference material, practical knowledge and challenging exercises. There is absolutely no fluff and not a single word is wasted. I grow tired of pouring through 1,000+ page tomes. The appendices are also very well structured and extremely helpful.Although I do virtually no C coding professionally, I can say for certain that this book has leveled up my skill-set. Working through these exercises has helped me with logical thinking and having a better understanding of coding closer to the machine has improved me as a developer overall. I'm one who believes that this book is great for all programmers, even if you never write a line of C after working through this book. I'm really loving the C language!Whether you are a beginner or experienced it's worth having this book. Though this will be quite tough for total beginners, I say it's still work picking up and pairing it with a more beginner-friendly book. Unfortunately I cannot recommend such a book at this time because this is the only C book I've worked through.

This book is certainly not for beginners, though not a requirements but at least the reader should have a background on Data Structure in order to easily follow most of the examples. The book was also structured to re-use the functions built from previous chapters like getline, atof, strcmp, alloc, etc.., though some of these functions have an equivalent in C's standard library, the authors choose to re-use it. If you pay attention to the details on this book, you will pick-up the most important area of C that will save you from scratching your head while debugging your code like side effects of infix/postfix increments, precedence of statement evaluation etc.. The authors also discussed some of the best practices in order to optimize the use of language such as efficient manipulation of pointers, style on delaring variables and initializations. Some of the coding style of this book was also used by coding guidelines found in official website of linux kernel. This book is commendable not only because it was written by the Kernihan and the creator of the language itself(Richie) but how the book was organized and well explained. This is a small book with big information.

I cannot explain how important this book is to any programmer, let alone a programmer wanting to learn C. This is one of the first books you should read, when starting any language derived from C as all are nearly syntactically identical.

Hard to find, but you won't find a better introduction to C programming! The book is easy to read, the example programs actually work, and when I first bought a copy of this book twenty-five years ago, I was able to write a C program to search a very large database and present a nicely structured screen display. Of course, in those days, the program was running under MS-DOS and I didn't have to deal with the Windows API. Nevertheless, Kernighan and Ritchie have written the definitive text for those who wish to learn ANSI C. If you can find one of these, get it!

C from the fathers of C. This book is esther terse. However, I really like it, and that's is one of the reasons. I cuts right through the chase. It's not your regular academic book which spends 2 chapters to explain functions or loops. Instead it teaches you how to use the language without going around in circles. Although, the book is small, it still has a great deal of content in each of its chapters. Therefore, make sure you have some knowledge of some other programming language under your belt. I rate it 5 stars because it really deserves it. My only complaint is that the book started falling apart in just two weeks. But well it was a used book that looked like new initially.

This is THE text on C, it's like the Bible for C programming.I found it to be a great base to ALL other languages I went on to learn - C is like the "father language of the programming world" as many of the pros will tell you.You can start with this book from absolutely nowhere in C programming, in fact, I think it's better if you do as I felt like I had to "un-learn" many bad habits.Definitely recommended for everyone by me as it teaches the language to whoever wants to learn C and gives a great base to expand from for anyone who wants to learn other programming languages.

I've been programming in C for almost five years now and while that certainly doesn't make me an expert, I was hesitant to by 200-something page book that was essentially an introduction to the language. Well, make no mistake, this book packs more punch pound for pound than any other book I've ever read. Not only was the book not too basic, some of the exercises are taking me way longer than my pride could have imagined. Do not hesitate to buy this book. If you love C, you'll love this book
